Our History

A family saga built on a rich industrial history and know-how.

The origins
of textile expertise

1855 – 1880

1855

The First Foundations

Jean-Baptiste LAROZIÈRE founded the textile business in Amiens, in the Somme (80). He purchased a weaving mill and started producing Utrecht velvet, laying the foundations of the family expertise.

1870

Craftsmanship Becomes a Profession

His sons and grandsons took over the torch. Through them, the company evolved, became structured, and developed new skills: weaving, garment production, marketing, and finishing — a delicate stage that enhances the material. The craft became expertise.

1880

Growing Reputation

The business expanded, and the fabric, locally recognized as the best in Amiens, gained national recognition.

1921

The “LEBEURRE Establishments” are founded, and the name “Le Meilleur d’Amiens”, in use since 1880, becomes the official brand name.

1936

The growth of clothing manufacturing

Georges LEBEURRE, son of Léon LEBEURRE, takes over and establishes himself in the Saint-Pierre district, in the heart of Amiens (80), where he develops clothing manufacturing.

1955

Workwear becomes a vocation

Michel LEBEURRE, son of Georges, continues the family work and gives new impetus by acquiring a weaving mill adapted to workwear production. The company expands to other fabrics such as moleskin or poly-cotton.

1980s

Facing the challenges of the industry

The political and economic situation changes, challenging the textile industry. The LEBEURRE Establishments are no exception.

Embracing
industrial change

With clarity and boldness, he revitalises the LEBEURRE Establishments by embracing the economic shifts of his time, while remaining faithful to the family DNA: mastering the entire production chain.

2000s
